London Calling

Updated: Aug 4, 2019

Yes, I know this is a song by The Clash. It is also a GREAT way to sum up my experience.

As I continue my journey of being intentional before 30, London was a great experience into that realm.

This trip had everything to do with seeing Celine Dion & Josh Groban perform together at Hyde Park. I had never seen Celine perform live and Josh, well I'm still mad at him for having a last minute show in Portland, ME 10 days before this London adventure. Never the less, I still was excited to see him live once again.

When I decided to go on this crazy trip, I figured why not reach out to our KW Family in London and teach a class while there. So, that's exactly what I did! You guys know me by now and know that I don't just take vacations right? I like to fit in as much as possible to each experience I have.

Landing in London, I slept on the flight, I felt GREAT and was ready to head off to the office to teach. However, my dear friend who came along, did not sleep. So, we found ourselves this lovely lounge with showers and free breakfast to rest for a few hours. We had plenty of time and could enjoy a little down time, or so we thought.

Lesson: Proper Planning Prevents Possible Problems

I made an assumption, that assumption was it would take about 30-45 minutes to get from the airport to the office. My assumption was wrong. I finally looked at the map and realized we were about 1h 15min from the office, without traffic. Now, if any of you have been to London you know traffic is inevitable. Well, now I know as well.

I'm one of those people who is chronically early. I like to be at my class location an hour ahead or at least a good 45minute. Not this time... I was going to have maybe 20min, which to some feels like a lifetime, to me... not enough.

In the cab headed to the class all I could think of was how poor I was going to look to the instructor and the students. I was so worked up that I didn't enjoy the sights coming into London. My friend next to me in the cab was a great support, offering jokes and encouragement along the way.

We made it with enough time to spare, the class was well received and I got to impact a few of our KW Family in London. All was well. Lesson, always google where you're going. Let's just say I won't make that mistake again.
